Kristi Williamson, Choreographer, musical director and and performer

Kristi Williamson has a professional background in dance and holds a BFA in musical theater from Syracuse University. She is passionate about archetypal exploration through cultural dance forms and ritual theater. Post-modern dance pioneer Anna Halprin and Afro-Brazilian contemporary dancer Rosangela Silvestre, are two of her most influential teachers.  Her work in theater, expressive arts therapy, somatics, dance, yoga and voice promote a holistic ethic that is alive in her offerings.

Most recently Kristi has been developing a program in collaboration with Tamalpa Institute, working with survivors of human trafficking. Her past three winters she has run a month long program for victims of sexual slavery in Kolkata, India. She trained extensively with Tamalpa Institute and received a certification in movement-based expressive arts.

Kristi is founder of LEAP, Living Expressive Arts Project, a multi- media ritual theater platform; combining mystic poetry, visuals, dance and music. She is a collaborator and theatrical/musical director of Terra Diddle Collective since 2008, founded by Oliver.

Kristi currently performs with circus artist, Fred Garbo and dances yearly with Shana Bloomstein's Women's Works. She is an active dancer with Anna Halprin's performance lab in San Francisco. Kristi performs with Marianne Lust's vermont-based ritual theater company Night Fires, yearly since 2013. She danced with Tika's Morgan's afro-brazilian contemporary company in San Francisco 2015-2017. She has trained in Salvador, Brazil and Bhubaneshwar, India in both Orisha afro-brazilian dance and Odissi classical indian dance.

Yoga, creative movement, and devotional music are at the root of her practice.  She has taught throughout the country including at Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health and the United Nations in NYC.  She is dedicated to bridging the disciplines of performance and healing arts.

Kristi lives between mid-coast Maine and San Francisco, teaching and performing. She has spent nearly every summer of her life on the ocean, working and sometimes living aboard old wooden schooners. This seafaring culture has shaped who she is and her deep love for nature.
